Early Years Count (EYC) Uganda is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing early childhood development in Uganda. We collaborate with government institutions, civil society, researchers, frontline workers, and development partners to improve policies, strengthen systems, and ensure young children especially the underserved thrive.
The early years shape a lifetime. More than 90% of a child’s brain develops before age 5, making this the most important window for learning, health, protection, and development. When children receive nurturing care during these years, they are more likely to succeed in school, lead healthier lives, and contribute to prosperous communities. Investing in the early years is not simply about supporting children; it is about building Uganda’s future.
Too many children are not being left behind because solutions don’t exist; they are being left behind because the systems responsible for delivering those solutions are fragmented. Services are often disconnected, data is incomplete, accountability is weak, and delivery systems lack the coordinated mechanisms needed to ensure every child receives the support they need. Early Years Count strengthens those systems so every child can thrive
