Data and Evidence Management

Data and Evidence Management

Every child’s journey begins with care that goes beyond survival rooted in health, nourishment, safety, and love.
OUR PHILOSOPHY

We turn numbers and narratives into action

To build a better future for Uganda’s youngest children, we need evidence.

We believe that reliable data, lived experience, and rigorous research are essential to driving better decisions, stronger policies, and smarter investments in early childhood development. Our Data & Evidence Management work ensures that Uganda’s ECD agenda is grounded in what works and rooted in the realities of families and frontline workers.

Development isn’t just physical it’s cognitive, emotional, and social. Our approach reflects this interconnectedness.

The first 1,000 days shape a lifetime. We prioritize this window with science-backed interventions.

Sustainable change happens when families, health systems, and communities unite around nurturing care.

Our Key Focus Areas

We're Redefining Survivial for Every Child to Thrive

ECD Data, Evidence & Knowledge Hub

We have developed a national ECD Knowledge Hub; a digital platform that curates and shares relevant, up-to-date information on the status of early childhood in Uganda.

The Hub includes:

  • Core indicators on health, nutrition, early learning, protection, and parenting
  • Interactive dashboards and district data visualizations
  • Synthesized research summaries and situation analyses
  • Voices from the field: stories, testimonials, and frontline insights

This tool is open to policymakers, practitioners, researchers, journalists, and citizens.

Situation Analysis & Sector Reviews

We produce in-depth, evidence-based publications that map trends, gaps, and opportunities in the ECD sector. These include:

  • National and sub-national situation analyses
  • ECD investment and financing reviews
  • Progress reports on ECCE Policy implementation
  • Learning syntheses from pilot ECD projects and innovations

Our reports help government and partners understand where we are, and where we need to go.

Research, Learning, and Knowledge Translation

We don’t just generate evidence; we make it usable.

Our team works to:

  • Translate complex research into briefs, infographics, and explainer videos
  • Commission or co-produce studies with universities, think tanks, and CSOs
  • Promote uptake of evidence in policy and budget decision-making
  • Support learning exchanges between districts and across sectors

We ensure decisions are driven by insight, not assumptions.

What makes our approach unique?

  • Integrated data and human stories: We combine statistics with real-life voices.
  • Action-oriented knowledge: Our outputs are designed for use; not just publication.
  • Multi-sectoral lens: We track indicators across education, health, nutrition, gender, and protection.
  • Accessible tools: We break down research so everyone can engage with it.

Securing Their Future

The First 1,000 Days Last a Lifetime

Science shows that the period from conception to age 3 lays the foundation for all future development. We focus on this critical window, equipping caregivers and health systems to provide the nutrition, protection, stimulation and care that transform early survival into lifelong success. Small investments today yield exponential returns tomorrow.
